Community Home Ownership Center (CHOC) was founded in 1996 to provide information and referral to local service providers for potential first-time homebuyers of low- and moderate-income in Puget Sound. That mission was expanded in 1999 to cover the State of Washington, and in 2005, the Board of Directors voted to change the name of the agency to Washington Homeownership Center (WHC) to reflect our statewide focus.
Washington Homeownership Center's primary reason for existence is to provide referrals to local service providers that can help our clients move closer to their goal of homeownership. Our database of service providers includes nonprofits, credit counseling agencies, housing authorities, municipalities, other government agencies, and volunteer translators.
