SUMMARY:Bridges over Barriers - An Economic Justice Forum
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our largest event of the year\, the Bank On Washington Annual Forum! \nIn 2026\, the Forum is being held September 2nd and 3rd in Tacoma at William W. Phillips Hall at UW Tacoma! The theme this year is Bridges Over Barriers! \nWe are calling in our network for two days of learning\, building relationships\, and finding collaboration partners for the year ahead! \nBridges are how we gather in this space. Our goal is to collaboratively network in order to share bold ideas and calls to action moving toward a Washington State where people and programs overcome shared barriers through relational problem solving. Connections that build a bridge between two people\, two resources\, are more durable and fluid than any single organization; we are excited to share space to strengthen these connections! \n\nBridging becomes more likely to occur if we can lean into the many identities we carry. In addition to such a space offering more possibilities to connect\, in this space we may be less prone to fear and anxiety. The other may be different and at odds with me on some or even many things\, but if I remain open to exploring our multiplicities\, we have a much greater change to find or create space where we can bridge\, with or without agreement. \nThe Power of Bridging: How to Build a World Where We All Belong\, by John A Powell \n\nBarriers can be internal or external\, personal or structural\, specific or general. The Bank On WA Forum has been a place to explore the barriers and challenges faced by marginalized communities that have been historically excluded from mainstream financial services and the barriers faced by service providers in building effective programs. We value the work of leaders and trailblazers to overcome challenges in ways others can follow. We recognize the momentum-builders in overcoming the inertia of the current system toward a future of inclusion and economic justice! \nPricing: \n$400 General Admission \n$200 Government \n$100 Nonprofit
