The Questions We Hear, The Answers You Need<\/span><\/h2><\/div>

Every\u00a0day,\u00a0dozens of people\u00a0reach out to\u00a0WHRC\u00a0with questions about buying a home, staying in the home they already own, or figuring out what to do when something\u00a0doesn’t\u00a0go as planned.\u00a0We\u00a0hear from\u00a0folks\u00a0in every corner of the state, and the\u00a0questions are as varied as the communities we serve.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A homeowner may be worried about falling behind on their mortgage\u00a0and unsure\u00a0where to turn. Someone\u00a0may struggle\u00a0with property taxes or\u00a0rising HOA dues.\u00a0They\u00a0may\u00a0face\u00a0a major repair or\u00a0need to discuss\u00a0options after a change in income, a\u00a0divorce\u00a0or another major life event.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And we hear plenty of questions from people who want to buy a home but\u00a0aren’t\u00a0sure where to\u00a0start\u00a0or\u00a0aren’t\u00a0sure whether homeownership is still possible for them.\u00a0Sometimes\u00a0their credit\u00a0isn’t\u00a0where they want it to be, or\u00a0their income makes qualifying\u00a0for a loan\u00a0difficult.\u00a0We hear from buyers who\u00a0have\u00a0been told \u201cno\u201d\u00a0and wonder what\u00a0other tools or resources might exist.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These are the kinds of questions we hear every day.\u00a0They are\u00a0a big part of why\u00a0our organization\u00a0exists.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At WHRC, our job is to listen, help people understand what options may be available, and connect them with vetted resources and organizations that can provide the right kind of\u00a0assistance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because we hear from households across every county of the state each year,\u00a0WHRC\u00a0gets to\u00a0notice patterns.\u00a0When we hear the same question from homeowners in Spokane, Chelan,\u00a0Thurston, and\u00a0Klickitat\u00a0Counties,\u00a0that’s\u00a0telling us something. When a particular issue starts coming up more often on our hotline or at community events, we pay attention.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes the answer is a resource that people simply\u00a0don’t\u00a0know exists.\u00a0It could be\u00a0a program that needs better outreach or explanation.\u00a0And sometimes, there\u00a0isn’t\u00a0a good answer\u00a0yet, but knowing about the issue allows us to\u00a0shed light on it\u00a0and work with our many partners toward solutions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We’re\u00a0launching this blog as another way to share what\u00a0we’re\u00a0hearing and learning, with households across Washington.\u00a0Here we will\u00a0highlight topics that are coming up in conversations with\u00a0community members, and\u00a0we’ll\u00a0bring in people who can help answer the questions behind those topics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You’ll\u00a0hear from\u00a0experts\u00a0who work with Washington households every day, answering YOUR questions about all things\u00a0homeownership.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We know a blog post\u00a0can’t\u00a0address every situation, and sometimes a person’s circumstances require\u00a0urgent,\u00a0individualized help.
